How we handle your information
Sportspickem is a fan-made pick’em site. We collect only what we need to run accounts, picks, leagues, email, and (if enabled) advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
Information we collect
- Account: username, email address, hashed password.
- Gameplay: picks, bullseye totals, over/under choices, league membership, season points.
- League chat: messages you post in a league.
- Session: login cookies so you stay signed in.
- Technical: basic server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and debugging.
How we use it
- Create and secure your account (including verification and password reset emails).
- Save picks, calculate scores, and show leaderboards.
- Run private and public leagues and league chat.
- Prevent abuse, spam, and unauthorized access.
- Show ads (if Google advertising is active on a page).
We use an email provider (such as Resend) to send account mail only — verification, password reset, and similar service messages. We do not use your email for third-party marketing lists.
Payments / tips
Optional tips are processed by Stripe. Card numbers go to the payment company, not into our database. We may see your name, email, and tip amount as shown in that provider’s dashboard.
Google advertising
Some pages may display ads served by Google (including Google AdSense). Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this site and other sites.

If ads are turned off, this section still describes what happens when they are enabled.
Cookies
- Essential: PHP session cookie so login works.
- Advertising (Google): cookies Google may set to measure and personalize ads.
- Local storage: small flags in your browser (for example, dismissing a banner).
Sharing
We share data only when needed to operate the site, for example:
- Hosting provider (to run the website and database).
- Email provider (to send account emails).
- Payment processor (if you leave a tip).
- Google (if ads are shown).
- When required by law or to protect the site and other users.
Other players can see your username, picks (where the game shows them), points, and league chat.
How long we keep it
Account and pick history stay while your account is active so season records work. If you want an account deleted, email us and we will remove or anonymize personal account data where we reasonably can. Some backups and legal records may remain for a limited time.
Your choices
- Update account details from the site where that option exists.
- Log out to end the current session.
- Use Google’s ad settings to limit personalized ads.
- Email us to request account deletion.
